recently tchad, my husband, and i have been going out kayaking in casco bay. it’s fun to paddle around, look at other boats, and marvel at how much cooler it is on the water (must make a mental note for july, when the sun is pouring in through our gigantic and lovely wall of windows that face west… and mostly don’t open very much… and we are slowly cooking like ants under a magnifying glass…)….

while there are many advantages to living in maine, one of them is that indoor-pizza-making season hasn’t ended yet. it’s still cool enough up here during the day and especially overnight that cranking the oven up to 500° F for an hour isn’t forbidden (i see you coming, july)….

fun fact about me: i’m totally infatuated with scandinavia. have i ever been there? no, not yet. having spent exactly no time there has done nothing to dampen my enthusiasm for living there someday, though. sure, i’m a little nervous about the extent to which pickled herring is a staple of the diet there BUT so is cardamom, so how bad could it be??…
